Heart of Chesapeake Country Heritage Area

Heritage Areas

Heritage areas are designated regions where residents use natural, cultural, historic and recreational resources to strengthen community identity, build economic value, and enhance quality of life. Through broad-based strategies and partnerships, heritage areas use the character and special qualities of a place as a primary means thorough which to achieve community goals. Supported by state and federal programs and incentives, heritage areas encourage, leverage, and reward grassroots initiatives in revitalization, stewardship, and heritage development.

Heritage Strategies is experienced in working with national and state heritage areas to envision, develop, and implement successful local and regional heritage area initiatives. We help forge partnerships among residents, local governments, businesses, and non-profit organizations to provide long-lasting relationships that reinvigorate communities.
